Chef Maurizio Crescenzo

 

Food has never been far from the center of Maurizio Crescenzo’s life.  

The chef and owner at Taverna Di Bacco, the Lower East Side Trattoria that draws on Italy’s many regional cuisines, and the recent winner of the TV series CHOPPED is passionate about both cooking and sharing the bounty of his kitchen.

 

Chef Maurizio Crescenzo grew up in Sarno, a town and commune of Campania, Italy, in the province of Salerno, 20 km northeast from the city of Salerno and 60 km east of Naples. Maurizio attended culinary school in Naples, Italy.

 

He came to New York City in 1996 and opened Grano Trattoria in the West Village in 1997 which ran successfully until April 2015. He opened Taverna Di Bacco, a very homey and neighborhood-friendly restaurant with a lovely garden in 2011.
